Early Detection of Cervical Cancer
There are two screening tests that can help prevent cervical cancer or find it in early stages. One is vaginal cytology, which looks for pre-cancers, that is, changes in the cells of the cervix that could turn into cancer if they are not treated properly. The other is the HPV test that looks for the presence of the human papillomavirus. An infection with this virus can cause cellular changes that can trigger cancer in the cervix. These tests are offered in all the sites of the Metropolitano Hospital.
