Each year, around 700 Costa Ricans are diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Most of these cases are treated with the removal of the thyroid gland through a surgery called thyroidectomy. At the Cancer and Hematology Center we have expert surgeons in this operation and we also offer transoral thyroidectomy that allows the gland to be removed without leaving a scar on the patient's neck.
