Cancer and Hematology Center of the Metropolitano Hospital

We work in the prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer in Costa Rica.

Each year, some 11,500 Costa Ricans are diagnosed with cancer and 5,000 lose their battle against this group of diseases. The Cancer and Hematology Center of the Metropolitano Hospital opened its doors in July 2016 precisely to contribute to the prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer in Costa Rica.

Under the highest quality standards and following the detection and treatment protocols of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), the American Cancer Society (ACS), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American Society of Hematology (ASH), the Cancer and Hematology Center provides comprehensive private care, focused on the well-being and comfort of the patient and their family.

Located in the Lindora branch of the Metropolitano Hospital, the Cancer and Hematology Center concentrates in a single site the technology, the facilities and the specialists to provide comprehensive cancer care to our patients. In addition, it extends the attention of its specialists throughout the country, offering consultations, telemedicine care and oncological checkups in all the sites of the Metropolitano Hospital clinic and hospital network.

Our multidisciplinary team, composed of a variety of medical oncologists, hematologists, oncological surgeons, radiologists, specialists in palliative medicine, among others, work together and analyze each case to determine the course of treatment and provide care comparable to that offered by the best medical centers in the world.

Additionally, the team offers second opinions and collaborate with multiple tumor boards held weekly through the Sanford Health Care System in the United States.
